Stacey Kracht is the owner of inSKribe, LLC, which provides content writing for small business marketing strategies. She writes all the content for the My Home My Harrisburg blogs and social media postings and also updates the calendar of events. She created inSKribe, LLC from a love of writing. Ever since she was a child, she’s been writing – short stories, lists of all sorts, dreams, passions – you name it, she has a notebook for it. She especially loves song lyrics and quotes, but words of any kind inspire her.

Stacey grew up on a farm near Rock Rapids, Iowa, where the family raised corn, soybeans, and sheep. She graduated from Central College, in Pella, IA, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and international studies. From there, she worked for the Sioux Council, Boy Scouts of America for 4 years, leading fundraising campaigns, working closely with hundreds of volunteers, recruiting volunteer leaders and youth program participants, planning activities and event programming for youth, and managing other staff.

After working in the non-profit sector, she decided to switch gears and became Director of Recruitment and Selection for Northwestern Mutual. With that position, she had the opportunity to network within the Sioux Falls community. She worked in the community and on college campuses to source potential candidate referrals and to recruit and interview potential financial advisor candidates.

Since November 2015, she has been again working full-time in the non-profit world. She is the Development Director, Distinguished Events at the American Cancer Society. Her portfolio of fundraisings events that she plans includes the Sioux Falls spring distinguished event, and 2 fall events – a Moody County walk/run event and a Sioux Falls breast cancer 5k fundraising walk called Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Stacey also operates inSKribe full-time.

In her free time, she loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, writing (of course!), spending time on the farm, watching a beautiful sunset, road tripping to visit her sister and brother-in-law or her college friends in Iowa, sipping coffee, listening to music, or planning her next weekend trip. She also enjoys several popular shows on Netflix!

She has two favorite travel experiences, which were both extended trips. She studied abroad in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in the spring semester of 2008. “That experience changed me forever,” she says. “I loved being immersed in a different language and culture. Living with a host mom was the best thing for me – I was forced to speak the language, and eventually I even was dreaming and thinking in Spanish!”

She also nannied for a family in Washington state two summers during college. She still keeps in touch with them and tries to visit as often as possible. They live on apple and pear orchards in the foothills, which exposed a whole new type of farming to Stacey. “I cannot even describe the immense love I have for them. The Thorntons are family, and their place is a second home for me. Along with my own family, they have been a huge influence in shaping who I am today.” She particularly loves the smell of the evergreen trees when her flight lands in Spokane as well as the rare but wonderful smell of damp sagebrush, because it rarely rains there.

She loves chatting with friends (old or new) over a cup of coffee. A few of her favorites include country music, fresh air, volunteering, travel, and people. “I admire all things vintage, my beautiful family, and inner strength,” she adds. “I'm usually willing to try a promising new adventure at least once, and I've often been told that I'm an ‘old soul.’”

She calls herself a lot of things, including a planner, organizer, writer, dreamer, networker, communicator, adventurer, multitasker, learner, and do-er. She describes herself as animated, impatient, goal-oriented, and expressive. “I value faith and family above all else. I like a challenge and I bore easily. I love promoting great causes and pretty much anything that has to do with people!”

Stacey is a pretty versatile person: farm life suits her just as well as fashion does. The people she admires most are her parents who farm and “do-it-all.” Her sister Shelley is her best friend, confidante, and adviser. Shelley is also business partner and accountant for inSKribe, also helping with projects and edits. Shelley works full-time as a tax analyst, and her husband Cody works in medical device sales. They live in Des Moines.

Stacey’s favorite color is blue and her favorite food is always changing, but right now it’s salmon. She is motivated by her passion to give back to the world around her. “I want to leave a lasting and meaningful legacy, whether that’s through my writing or my non-profit work. I love helping people, and I hope whatever I’m doing is for the greater good.” Some bucket list items include traveling to pretty much anywhere, including the Grand Canyon with her family, Greece, Spain, Italy, and anywhere near the ocean.

She says her biggest challenge has been believing in herself. “When I started inSKribe, I just did it, without really knowing what I was doing. So far it’s been successful! That had a huge impact on my confidence.” Every experience she has been through has taught her something. “I believe everything happens for a reason. It may not always be apparent what that reason is, and maybe it doesn’t seem like there’s any good reason at the time, but eventually the cards always fall into place.”

Stacey loves hearing people's stories of how they got to where they are today, what drives them to succeed, how they came up with their ideas, what inspires them. Through her writing business, she hopes to share people’s stories in writing. inSKribe can help individuals and businesses with anything that requires writing.
