Our September Resident Spotlight features Chase and Rachel Hirt, their two children, Jaxon and Lyvia and their Goldendoodle, Neo. Chase teaches 1st grade at Freedom Elementary. Along with teaching, Chase is also an Assistant Coach for the Harrisburg High School Football Team and Track & Field. Rachel works at CorTrust Bank in Sioux Falls as an Internal Audit Officer. Jaxon is in the 1st grade and is enjoying his first year of flag football. Lyvia is in daycare and will be ready for a gymnastics class once she turns 3. Rachel says that Lyvia loves to climb on anything and everything!
The Hirts have lived in Harrisburg for 8 years now and Rachel says it’s exciting to see the growth! Although the schools are getting very big within the district, Harrisburg still had that small-town feel and that is why they wanted to live in town. Also, because Chase was teaching in the district, it was more convenient to live in town. The family recently moved across town and they absolutely love the new neighborhood! Rachels says they have the best neighbors and are within walking distance to parks and schools. Chase enjoys having Ace and Fareway here to make shopping more convenient for buying items to cook on his smoker and getting items for house projects.
During their spare time, the family enjoys spending time with family and friends. They also enjoy different events around the area on the weekends, like going to the Apple Orchard for the festivals. Since Chase helps coach football, the fall season on the weekends consists of cheering on the Tigers. If they win, the family’s tradition is to get donuts on Saturdays. Jaxon and Lyvia look forward to a win every weekend! Go Tigers!
