Brian and Tammy Hass along with their tribe, Brynn, Bryanna, Brittany, Trevyn and Tyler have been a part of the Harrisburg community for 23 ½ years. Most of you probably know them as Tammy has had an in-home daycare in the community for as long as they have lived here. Brian works full-time for the South Dakota Army National Guard. He is a MAJ and is currently on a 10 month deployment to Djibouti, Africa. Brynn is their oldest and she is in her third year of college at USD where she studys Bio Med. Bryanna is working at EmBe which is the before and after school care program. Brittany is a freshman and is currently active with Kairos and playing club volleyball. Trevyn and Tyler both attend Liberty Elementary School. Trevyn is a 5th grader and Tyler is a 3rd grader. The family also has 2 guinea pigs, Norman and Beans, both are 3 years old.
Brian is from a small town in Iowa and Tammy was born and raised in Sioux Falls so Harrisburg was a good compromise for a place to call home. It is still the small town feel and perfect for Tammy to have a larger city nearby. Tammy loves the support of Harrisburg. She says it’s a great community that works well together and helps anyone in need. She also likes the school system. The teachers here are amazing!
In their spare time, the Hass family enjoys camping at their home away from home in Platte, SD. They have a permanent campsite at Platte Creek and you can find them there enjoying most weekends starting in the spring all the way until the fall. They love the quality time with family and friends, boating and jet skiing while out on the water. Tammy says she doesn’t do a lot for just herself, but when she has the time, she enjoys pedicures and massages. She also loves to go walking when her kids are in bed or take some time to catch up on a tv show with a glass of wine.
