Beau and Mandy Koopal have built two homes in Harrisburg and finished the basements in both to build equity. Mandy said when Beau and her started dating, they knew they wanted to be on an acreage. They both grew up on a farm and loved the rural life. It wasn’t long after they finished the basement on their second home, that the Koopal’s had found their dream property, a fixer upper just a few miles outside of Harrisburg.
The home was built in 1994 and had a lot of work that needed to be done. It had a leaky roof, some broken windows and windows that wouldn’t open. Beau and Mandy were able to look past the flaws and saw the potential this home had. They submitted an “as is” offer, it was accepted, and they were new homeowners once again, in July 2016! The Koopal’s lived in a camper while renovating the home for nearly two months before fully moving into their home. Mandy says, “That was NOT fun!”. They had replaced all of the doors, windows, flooring and cabinets, scraped the popcorn ceilings and retextured.
Mandy says her absolute favorite thing about their property is the location and the amount of land they have. It was always her dream to have more animals, and she can do that here. She says, “It’s great for my children to grow up doing outdoor chores!”. The couple is especially proud of the renovated kitchen. They kept a similar layout, but changed a few things around. Mandy says they have a lot more work ahead of them, as they are still wanting to finish the basement!
